Leader of the most powerful army in the heavens, Zacharel has been deemed nearly too dangerous, too ruthless;and if he isn’t careful, he’ll lose his wings. But this warrior with a heart of ice will not be deterred from his missions at any cost;until a vulnerable human tempts him with a carnal pleasure he’s never known before.
Accused of a crime she did not commit, Annabelle Miller has spent four years in an institution for the criminally insane. Demons track her every move, and their king will stop at nothing to have her. Zacharel is her only hope for survival, but is the brutal angel with a touch as hot as hell her salvation? Or her ultimate damnation?
~ 4.5 Wicked Nights Stars ~
Wicked Nights is book one in the Angels of the Dark series by Gena Showalter. This series is a spin-off of the Lords of the Underworld series.
This is a re-read for me and I loved it all over again. I am a fan of Showalter and love her writing, characters, and world-building.
Wicked Nights is a FANTASTIC start to this new series. Annabelle and Zacharel I adored them. Zacharel is a virgin. And Annabelle is a woman who has had a tough life, but she still fights. Her spunk and fiery spirit made her fun, unique, and a great heroine to read about. Zacharel is more serious, so when the two get together we get some hilarious dialogue. The romance is not at all hot and heavy, these two have a lot to work through before they become intimate, but it is well worth the wait.
I love the world Showalter has created and how she brings in characters from the other series. We are given a group of warrior Angels who are about to be kicked out of heaven and have one year to redeem themselves. The Angels themselves are fascinating to learn about, even the individual ones in the army that we are introduced too. It’s a great cast of Angels. We also get a peek at seeing some of the Lords of the Underworld. (Fan girl moment!) And as for the ending we get a little twist at the end. I enjoy a good twist.
Wicked Nights is a PHENOMENAL start to Another Hit Series by Showalter. Fantastic world-building and interesting characters with a unique plot. If you have not tried Gena Showalter I highly recommended you do.
